Brick Lane

We used to go down to Brick Lane in the late 80’s after being out clubbing. The two bagel stores supplied late night party goers with tasty snacks and a chance to drag the night out a little longer. In those days this part of London was not full of trendy bars and clothing shops. It was a community full of Bangladeshi’s who’d opened many a restaurant that still supply the best curries in town to this day.

All shots taken with a Leica CL with the 40mm Summicron. The most perfect and inoffensive little camera for these type of shots.

All street signs are in English and Bangladeshi.

Curry house's by night. Shot on the Leica CL, Ilford XP2, hand held

These guys work at getting people into the restaurant for a feed up!

We found this great little tea and sweet shop, didn't feel like we were in London at all.

Two Islamic bookshop owners, they also sell pan in their shop, delicious!
